Meet your Therapist

Hello, I’m Lauren.

ABOUT ME

I’m a HCPC and BAAT registered Art Psychotherapist. I have worked across palliative care, primary and secondary schools, residential care settings, and care homes, supporting people through a wide range of emotional experiences and life stages.

I am neurodivergent and live with disability myself. This deeply informs my practice. It matters to me that therapy is accessible and that people of all identities, bodies, and ways of thinking are genuinely heard and respected.

You don’t need any art experience to begin. Art therapy is not about skill or talent - it is about using image and process to explore what can sometimes feel difficult to put into words.

I currently offer sessions online while I search for a studio space with appropriate disability access. Accessibility is not an afterthought in my work - it is foundational.

What I believe

  • Trauma does not simply get “stuck” in the body — it takes shape.

  • You are not too much. Often, you were met with unmet needs in systems that did not know how to hold them.

  • Image and movement can reveal what words cannot.

  • Boundaries are lived and felt, not simply spoken.

  • Safety is built over time, through steadiness and trust.

  • Integration matters more than intensity.

  • Much of what shapes us operates beneath conscious awareness.

“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who look inside awakens.”

My Approach

I am an Art Psychotherapist based in Manchester.

Grounded in psychodynamic and analytical traditions, my work explores the deeper roots of emotional patterns; not only what is happening now, but how past experiences and unconscious processes continue to shape the present. I work with symbolism and image, recognising that meaning often emerges beyond words.

Alongside this, I bring a strong somatic awareness to the process. I am interested in how experience lives in the body -in sensation, posture, and nervous system responses and how we adapt to survive. When trauma or overwhelm disrupts this connection, therapy can support a return to steadiness and embodied presence.

Our work may move between image, body, and reflection, allowing meaning to emerge rather than forcing it. The aim is to create a space that feels held, thoughtful, and paced - where understanding is both felt and thought, and where real integration can begin.
